Seattle Markets
PCC Natural Markets (PCC) in the Seattle area is an important part of our market. A large share of the farm's harvest is sold at the PCC stores. We harvest on order for them, and it is trucked to Seattle shortly after, so what you find on their produce rack is absolutely fresh.
For over 50 years, Puget Sound residents have joined together through PCC Natural Markets to improve the quality and nutrition of foods available, educate themselves about food and environmental issues, and create a marketplace for local, organically grown foods. Nash's Produce thanks PCC for its support and congratulates its board, its staff, and especially its members for their vision and dedication to sustainable agriculture.
For more information on PCC Natural Markets, visit http://www.pccnaturalmarkets.com.
Originally called “CSAs” (for Community Supported Agriculture), farm share programs began as a food-for-labor exchange about 20 years ago in New England. Today, many organic farmers sell “shares” in their upcoming harvest in the early spring, providing them the cash for spring planting and equipment. During the course of the harvest season, the share purchaser receives a weekly box of fresh, organic vegetables. Through closer involvement with the farmer, the share purchasers develop a deeper relationship with the land where their food is grown, and come to a better understanding how their food is produced.
Harvest starts mid-June to early July and lasts until Christmas for a total of 25 boxes. Each box contains a balanced representation of that week's harvest, with 8 to 10 different vegetables, from leafy greens to many types of root crops. Please refer to the Seasonal Chart for an approximation (weather permitting) of our harvest expectations.
Clallam County Farm Share members can pick up their weekly box at any of our Farmer's Market locations, or directly at the farm when it is open for retail. We're also launching a limited home delivery program. If you are interested in participating this coming year, please contact Kia Kozun, Farm Share Coordinator, at (360) 681-7458, or at farmshare@nashsorganicproduce.com .
